CREDIT MUTUEL EQUITY & OLMA invest in CAVIAR DE NEUVIC
Context
Crédit Mutuel Equity has taken a stake in Caviar de Neuvic, the Périgord-based caviar house founded in 2011 by Laurent Deverlanges and a first circle of partners, joining long-standing shareholder Olma Luxury Holdings and a pool of private investors in a funding round totalling 11.6 million euros. The company generates revenue of and employs 56 people, producing around 6 tonnes of caviar a year while controlling the entire value chain, from sturgeon farming across 20 hectares of ponds fed by the Isle river to sales in France and for export. Fresh capital will fund a change in its industrial model and a significant increase in output, through the acquisition of two fish farms at Salses-le-Château in the Pyrénées-Orientales and a herd of 150 tonnes of sturgeon. Caviar de Neuvic holds B-Corp certification, became an Entreprise à Mission in 2021, and runs an IFS-certified laboratory; 95% of its fish are processed for collagen and pigment buyers, mainly in cosmetics, while residues are turned into compost on site. Its sales reach through retail distribution, a professional showroom, its own counters in Neuvic, Paris and Bordeaux, online and logistics relays, and it works with producers in Bulgaria, Spain and Italy. The global caviar market is put at 412 million euros and, according to FRPT Research, should reach 975 million dollars by 2033, with China producing 322 tonnes a year against 47 tonnes for France, which consumes 70 tonnes annually and therefore imports.

Target
Founded in 2011 by Laurent Deverlanges, Caviar de Neuvic began with the takeover of a small fish farm in Neuvic, specialising in pond fish. Fourteen years on, the Périgord-based company has become a French reference, producing around 6 tonnes of caviar annually. It controls the entire value chain, from sturgeon farming to sales in France and for export. The company operates several basins fed by the Isle river, across 20 hectares in the heart of the white Périgord. On the narrow caviar market, heavily contested by China, it offers technical expertise supported by an integrated team of agricultural engineers. It has also chosen alliances with European producers in Bulgaria, Spain and Italy to withstand competition and offer a range of caviars. The SME has developed multi-channel sales tools: retail distribution, a professional showroom, own counters in Neuvic, Paris and Bordeaux, online sales and logistics relays.
