Tecomatic acquired by IK PARTNERS

SWEDEN Construction / Structural Works / Masonry & Civil Eng. REV 100M - 200M SEK

Context

The investment fund IK Partners, via its IK Small Cap III vehicle, signed an agreement to acquire Tecomatic from PEQ Invest. The purchase will be funded from the fund’s dedicated pool of development capital, and the existing management team will reinvest a portion of its equity alongside the new shareholder. Tecomatic, founded in 1985 and headquartered in Kalmar, Sweden, specialises in end‑to‑end water‑treatment and erosion‑control solutions for critical infrastructure. Its portfolio comprises sediment‑removal systems, floating walls and silt screens that treat storm‑, process‑, leachate‑ and waste‑water, as well as concrete mattresses and rock‑bag systems that protect bridges, wind turbines, underwater cables and other assets from hazardous sediment. In FY23 the target reported revenues of and an EBITDA of . The acquisition follows Tecomatic’s 2022 merger with Järven Ecotech, after which the combined entity broadened its product offering and established a recurring customer base among Swedish municipalities, recycling firms and construction companies. IK Partners intends to leverage its long‑standing expertise in industrial private equity to reinforce Tecomatic’s market position throughout the Nordics, to accelerate organic growth, and to execute selective bolt‑on acquisitions that expand the geographic reach and deepen the technology stack. The firm also plans to provide strategic guidance, access to a broader distribution network and additional capital for research and development. Completion of the transaction is subject to customary regulatory approvals. MCF Corporate Finance acted as financial advisor to PEQ Invest.

Target

Founded in 1985 and headquartered in Kalmar, Sweden, Tecomatic operates as a specialized engineering and technical services provider dedicated to critical infrastructure protection and marine environment purification. The company engineers and installs comprehensive, proprietary solutions designed to mitigate soil erosion and manage complex water purification challenges. Its operational model addresses two primary segments: environmental water purification and structural erosion control. In water treatment, the business deploys dedicated floating walls, silt screens, and sediment removal systems engineered to extract hazardous contaminants from stormwater, industrial process streams, leachate, and wastewater prior to discharge into natural aquatic waterways. In erosion protection, the entity manufactures and installs custom concrete mattresses and heavy rock bags engineered to stabilize ground formations, prevent underwater sediment migration, and protect civil engineering structures such as bridge pilings, offshore wind turbines, and submarine energy cables. Commercial engagements primarily serve public-sector bodies, including Swedish cities and regional municipalities, as well as industrial corporations active across civil construction, transport infrastructure, and commercial recycling.
