ICG invests in PAULO DUARTE GROUP
Context
ICG agreed on 30 June 2026 to take a 33.5% stake in Paulo Duarte Group, the Portuguese specialist road haulier, through its European Infrastructure team, becoming a minority partner of the founding family. The transaction combined the purchase of the stake with a capital injection to be released in phases as the company needs it. Ownership remained with the Paulo Duarte family, and co-chief executives Gustavo Paulo Duarte and António Paulo Duarte stayed at the head of the group. At the time of the deal, Paulo Duarte Group generated annual revenue of and ran around 2,000 heavy vehicles, most of them owned. The new capital was to fund a further renewal of the fleet, investment in digital systems and logistics infrastructure, and expansion into new regions of Spain and Portugal. The group also planned to strengthen its position in southern Europe and to move into eastern markets such as Poland and the Czech Republic. It was ICG’s first investment in road freight, after earlier transport and mobility deals including the electric vehicle charging company Zeplug and the British airports group Regional & City Airports. The Paulo Duarte family was advised by Interpath and J+Legal, while ICG worked with Uría on legal matters and Eight Advisory on due diligence.
