Target
Founded in 2017 and headquartered in Dülmen, Germany, Altano has assembled a network of equine clinics and ambulatory practices across Europe, North America and Oceania. The group was built on a simple observation by its founder, Dr Victor Baltus: cooperation among veterinarians is the lever that moves equine medicine forward. Altano operates as a community of practices rather than a single corporate entity, with clinical teams retaining a strong local identity while plugging into shared education, research and treatment protocols. Its service range covers routine and emergency care, specialist referrals, advanced imaging, surgery, sports medicine and breeding services. As of 2026, the network brings together 110 clinics and practices and close to 1,000 veterinarians. That scale makes Altano the largest player in its sector. The model is deliberately veterinarian-centric: knowledge sharing and continuing education sit at the core of how standards are raised across the group. Altano serves horse owners, breeders, trainers and referring vets who need specialist depth that standalone practices rarely sustain.
