Soho Square Capital invests in STRATHBERRY
Context
Soho Square Capital acquired a significant minority stake in Strathberry, the Scottish luxury leather goods brand, in the first investment of its Soho Square Partnership Capital Fund II, at an enterprise value of , an EV/revenue multiple of on revenue of . It was Strathberry's second funding round, in which Soho Square took over from BGF as the company's institutional investor. Founders Guy and Leeanne Hundleby kept control and continued to run the business with managing director Martin Byrne, while David Steel, who led the deal for Soho Square with Joe Tebbutt and Alex Kustovskyi, joined the board. The new capital was to fund Strathberry's international expansion, particularly in North America, then its largest market, along with new store openings and further investment in the brand. Target
Operating from Edinburgh, Strathberry designs and sells luxury leather goods, with each piece designed in Scotland and handcrafted by artisans in leather workshops in Ubrique, Spain. The range covers handbags and leather accessories, developed around a principle of thoughtful design, enduring quality and a more human approach to luxury. The brand sells through a digitally led direct-to-consumer model, complemented by a small estate of its own stores and a curated wholesale presence in luxury retailers, and ships to customers internationally. Its customers are international, with North America its main market and demand also from the UK, APAC and GCC markets, Australia and Germany. Strathberry was founded in Edinburgh in 2013 by Guy and Leeanne Hundleby.
