PAPREC takes majority stake in GBP METAL GROUP

SPAIN Utilities (Regulated Infrastructure) / Waste Management / Collection & Recycling REV €5–25M

Context

Paprec acquired an 80% majority stake in £ Metal Group from the founding Bellver family on 23 September 2026. The transaction left the remaining 20% equity interest with the Bellver family, whose members stayed in executive roles to manage day-to-day operations alongside the new majority owner. £ Metal Group generated revenue of €5–25M, while registering a decline in turnover compared with the prior annual period. At the time of the transaction, the business operated two industrial facilities in the Valencian Community, handled tens of thousands of tonnes of scrap annually, and employed 26 staff across sorting, metal processing, and vehicle depollution lines. Paprec structured the purchase through its regional arm, Paprec España, funding the transaction with existing liquidity reserves. The transaction broadened Paprec España's operational footprint in the Valencian Community, integrating dedicated non-ferrous processing lines, mobile container logistics, and industrial demolition capabilities into its Spanish recycling network. The Bellver family retained operational oversight of yard logistics and regional metal procurement across the Xàtiva facilities. The founding management committed to coordinating local supplier relationships with regional scrap generators alongside Paprec España's commercial team. Both parties completed the equity sale without public regulatory conditions or external shareholder approvals.

By taking control of Gbp Metal Group, Paprec continues its expansion strategy. Previously, the group had completed 2 acquisitions, including Convertini in 2026.

Target

Based in Xàtiva, in the province of Valencia, GBP Metal Group operates the recovery, sorting, shredding, and transformation of ferrous and non-ferrous scrap metals. The business handles scrap collection, industrial demolition, plant dismantling, and the depollution and processing of end-of-life vehicles. It prepares sorted secondary raw materials, including copper, aluminium, brass, and scrap iron, which it ships directly to smelters, foundries, and industrial metal refiners across domestic and international markets. The firm manages its own logistics fleet for container transport and site pickups, running processing yards equipped with weighing bridges, shears, and scrap balers. Founded in 1959, the company provides circular waste management services to industrial manufacturers, construction contractors, and municipal collection facilities.
