MUBADALA invests in POWER FACTORS

UNITED STATES Software / Industry-Specific Software REV 10m USD - 500m USD

Context

Mubadala Investment Company took a significant minority stake in Power Factors, the American developer of software for managing renewable energy assets, in a transaction announced on 6 May 2026. Vista Equity Partners remained an investor, and the company continued under chief executive Julieann Esper Rainville with no change of control. At the time of the deal, Power Factors served more than 600 customers across 18,000 sites in over 70 countries, covering 310 gigawatts of managed capacity. Its platform collects data from wind farms, solar plants and battery installations, detects faults and underperformance, and supports both the technical management of the assets and the commercial side, from production forecasting to settlement. The capital was committed to fund product development, in particular the artificial intelligence layer the company was building across its suite to help operators interpret the operational data their sites generate, and to extend its monitoring and control capabilities for energy storage and hybrid systems, which increasingly provide balancing services to electricity grids. For Mubadala, the investment continued a long-standing position in the energy transition, which it had built since founding Masdar, and extended it towards the software layer on which renewable portfolios now depend as they grow across countries and technologies.
