NUVEEN takes majority stake in SCHRODERS

Context

Nuveen completed its acquisition of Schroders on 1 October 2026, taking a 99.63% stake in the London-based asset and wealth manager. The combined group managed $2.6 trillion of assets for institutional and wealth clients across more than 40 markets. Thasunda Brown Duckett, chief executive of TIAA, said the deal strengthened the investment capabilities behind TIAA's retirement and annuity products. Schroders was to keep operating as a separate business within Nuveen for 12 to 18 months, led by its group chief executive Richard Oldfield, reporting to Nuveen chief executive William Huffman. Over time, Nuveen planned a single investment platform for public and private markets under chief investment officer Saira Malik, with Johanna Kyrklund in charge of public markets and solutions and Matt Oomen leading global client coverage. Investment teams in asset and wealth management were kept in place during the transition, and London was to become the combined firm's principal office outside the United States.
