MYFLEXBOX acquired by DEINFACH

AUSTRIA Transport & Logistics / Logistics REV 5M - 25M EUR

Context

DeinFach, a wholly owned subsidiary of Deutsche Post, acquired 100% of myflexbox from the STAR IV Fund, a vehicle managed by STAR Capital Partnership, in a transaction announced on 1 October 2026. The seller had held the Salzburg-based operator of open-access parcel lockers since April 2023. Deutsche Post intended to combine myflexbox with DeinFach, its open-access locker platform in Germany, while keeping the myflexbox brand and the carrier-neutral model in place. The DeinFach brand was to be transitioned gradually into myflexbox, consolidating the carrier-neutral locker networks of both companies under a single label. At the time of the transaction myflexbox operated around 3,000 stations in Austria and Germany, having grown its network more than seven-fold from roughly 400 locations in Austria since STAR's investment, while entering the German market and installing about 2,000 sites there. The company held long-term, index-linked contracts with blue-chip carriers and had developed proprietary software for its network. The combination was presented as part of Deutsche Post's open-access roll-out strategy in Germany, where the group planned to make around 50,000 parcel lockers available by 2030, more than half of them carrier-neutral myflexbox solutions. The myflexbox stations were to complement a German network of approximately 19,000 DHL Packstations, Poststationen and DeinFach kiosks. Founder Jonathan Grothaus, chief executive, and Peter Klima, chief technology officer, had worked with STAR Capital during its ownership.

Target

Founded in Salzburg in 2018, myflexbox installs, owns and operates automated parcel lockers open to every carrier, so that several parcel companies, online retailers and consumers can send, collect and return parcels through the same station. The lockers run on hardware and software developed in-house, which also powers the customer interface. They are hosted by landlords, municipalities, retailers and real estate partners on their own sites, and each one handles shipments from several delivery companies, so that existing space is shared rather than filled with separate machines for each carrier. Carriers use the network under long-term contracts with index-linked pricing, and consumers can collect or drop off parcels outside shop opening hours. The network covers Austria and Germany.
