LABRIE ENVIRONMENTAL GROUP acquired by HIAB CORPORATION

Labrie Environmental Group, a North American specialist in refuse collection vehicles, is being acquired by Hiab Corporation in a strategic transaction aimed at significantly strengthening its exposure to the waste and recycling equipment market in North America. The transaction reflects Hiab’s strategy to expand into resilient end-markets characterised by predictable fleet replacement cycles and structurally supported demand driven by municipal infrastructure and private operators. Hiab, a provider of intelligent on-road load handling solutions, is expanding beyond its traditional segments to build a broader industrial equipment platform. The acquisition of Labrie provides access to an adjacent but highly complementary market, while materially increasing Hiab’s exposure to the United States and Canada. The industrial rationale is based on convergence across specialised equipment value chains, combining manufacturing expertise and aftermarket services, with expected synergies in procurement, distribution and commercial development. The transaction is part of a broader consolidation trend within niche industrial markets, aimed at improving capital efficiency, strengthening technological capabilities and expanding service-led platforms in regulated and recurring-demand industries. The combined entity should form a group generating nearly $2 billion in revenue.
