FREIGHTLINER UK INTERMODAL LOGISTICS acquired by CMA-CGM

CMA CGM agreed on 22 September 2025 to acquire Freightliner UK Intermodal Logistics from Freightliner Group, with completion expected in early 2026. Freightliner Group kept its bulk cargo activities and its operations outside the United Kingdom, while the acquired business was to continue as a standalone unit within CMA CGM, remaining open to all shippers rather than reserved for the group’s own cargo. In the year before the deal, Freightliner UK handled 770,000 containers. The purchase extended CMA CGM’s push beyond shipping into land and air logistics, an activity that already accounted for about a third of the group’s sales and is intended to reduce its exposure to the swings of the container shipping market. Rail haulage between ports and inland terminals also connects directly to the cargo CMA CGM carries into British ports.
