Dreampath Diagnostics acquired by Halma

FRANCE Life Sciences / Medical Devices / Diagnostic Equipment EV €100–350M

Context

Halma acquired the entire share capital of Dreampath Diagnostics from Summit Partners and the company’s other shareholders, in a transaction announced in July 2026, at an enterprise value of €100–350M paid in cash on a cash-free, debt-free basis from its existing facilities, with a further earn-out of up to 121 million euros payable over the two financial years to March 2027 and March 2028 against performance targets. Founded in 2012 and headquartered in Strasbourg, Dreampath supplies the systems that track patient tissue samples through a pathology laboratory. A biopsy passes through a dozen stages between removal and diagnosis, each a point at which a sample can be mislabelled or lost, and the company’s combination of hardware and software identifies each sample, records its position at every step and retrieves it on demand, replacing handling that remains largely manual. Its customers are anatomical pathology laboratories, more than 500 of them across 50 countries, handling over 300 million samples. It expected revenue of €25–50M for the year ending March 2027. Summit Partners had invested only twelve months earlier, in July 2025, as the company’s first institutional shareholder, and sold its entire position. Dreampath was to operate as a standalone company within Halma’s healthcare division, which brings together businesses supplying equipment and technology to clinical settings. Demand in pathology has risen with ageing populations and the growth of chronic disease, while newer treatments require more extensive testing before they can be prescribed, which increases both sample volumes and the consequences of an error. Halma is a British group that acquires and holds companies making safety, environmental and healthcare equipment, operating them as autonomous businesses rather than integrating them, a model that matched the sellers’ intention of finding a long-term owner for Dreampath.

The acquisition of Dreampath Diagnostics is part of the growth strategy of Halma, which already has several external growth operations under its belt, notably Surgistar in 2026.
