XAL takes majority stake in LAMP
Context
XAL acquired a majority stake in Lamp, the Spanish specialist in indoor and outdoor professional lighting, from Experience Brands, in a deal announced in October 2026. The Cusidó family, which founded the company in 1972, kept a significant minority holding, and Lamp’s management team stayed to run the business. Until the transaction, Lamp had been part of Experience Brands, an international group of specification-grade lighting companies operating in more than 100 countries and itself a portfolio company of the Luxembourg-based private equity firm Sustainable Growth Management. At the time of the deal, Lamp employed around 125 people and served projects in some 70 countries through its Terrassa headquarters and five subsidiaries. For XAL, which employs around 1,500 people across 30 locations on three continents, the purchase strengthened its position in Spain and South America, while Lamp gained access to the Austrian group’s international platform to support its next phase of growth. Carlsquare acted as exclusive financial adviser to Sustainable Growth Management and its portfolio company Experience Brands. It was the third transaction on which the firm advised Experience Brands.
LAMP, which reported an EBITDA margin of in 2026, is valued in this transaction at an EV/EBITDA multiple of , a level to compare with the average currently observed in the Industry & Manufacturing sector (11.7x).
