Nokia Enterprise Campus Edge acquired by Aurelius

FINLAND Telecom / Infrastructures REV €100–200M

Context

AURELIUS signed a definitive agreement on 13 October 2026 to acquire Nokia Enterprise Campus Edge in a global carve-out, investing through AURELIUS Opportunities Fund V. Completion was expected in the first half of 2027, subject to regulatory approvals and to consultation with employee representatives, with the employees transferring with the business. ECE builds private wireless networks for industrial sites. A factory, a mine or a port operating hundreds of connected machines, vehicles and sensors cannot rely on public mobile coverage, which is neither available underground nor guaranteed at the latency automated equipment requires. ECE installs dedicated 4G and 5G networks on the customer’s own premises, supplies the industrial devices connecting to them, and provides the edge computing systems that process operational data locally, which keeps that data within the site rather than transmitting it to external infrastructure. Around this it sells software applications, including industrial artificial intelligence use cases. The business serves nearly 900 customers in manufacturing, mining, logistics, airports, ports and power generation, employs approximately 1,000 people with operations in Finland, Hungary, India and the United States, and generates annual sales of more than €170m across Europe, the Americas, Asia-Pacific and the Middle East. For Nokia, the disposal formed part of a reorganisation announced eleven months earlier, under which activities classified as non-core were grouped for sale. ECE sits alongside the fixed wireless CPE, site implementation and microwave radio units earmarked for divestment, which together generate 900 million euros of annual revenue out of a group total of 19.9 billion, at a 22% gross margin but a 100 million euro operating loss. Their disposal removes that loss without materially reducing revenue, allowing Nokia to concentrate on mobile and network infrastructure.
