MPS acquired by DURST GROUP
Context
Durst Group has agreed to acquire MPS Printing, a Netherlands-based maker of flexographic printing systems for labels and flexible packaging, with the business joining the group on 1 January 2027 and trading as MPS – A Durst Group Company. Durst Group CEO and co-owner Christoph Gamper said the addition of flexographic expertise, technology and engineering capability gives the group more integration options and lets it run complementary development paths in parallel. The transaction is subject to regulatory clearances and is expected to close on that date. MPS will keep developing, manufacturing and selling its existing flexographic press range under the new name, and its management team will be retained. CEO Michiel Borst stays in charge of the business as managing director of MPS – A Durst Group Company, reporting within Durst Group's management structure. Borst said the business keeps its entrepreneurial approach and customer focus while gaining access to a broader technology platform, a global organisation and the long-term perspective of a family-owned company. Durst, which works in digital printing, software and automation and, through packaging printing machine developer OMET, in hybrid production, expects the deal to widen its technology base, shorten development times and speed the launch of systems that link digital and flexographic printing with software, automation and finishing. MPS's direct sales network in Europe continues unchanged, while Durst US takes over sales and service for the MPS portfolio in the United States, and MPS gains access to Durst's international service and spare-parts network. Durst's separate partnership with OMET, covering the jointly developed KJet and XJet hybrid platforms, continues independently of this deal.
MPS, which reported an EBITDA margin of in 2026, is valued in this transaction at an EV/EBITDA multiple of , a level to compare with the average currently observed in the Industry & Manufacturing sector (11.5x).
